Pete and I got to take another Sigler trip this year... Maui
We had an amazing time!
We got hit with a little bit of bad weather that changed or put a damper on some things but mostly.. it was perfect!
Some things we did:
We checked out the Nakaele Blowhole (also saw the heart shaped rock here)
We hit the Olovine Pools but we’re a little bummed... these are pools when the tides are lower that you can relax in. When we arrived there was also an ambulance arriving, the tides had gotten very high quick and a few girls (around 20 yrs old) got slammed by a wave and almost sucked back into the ocean. Obviously we did not enjoy those much.. but we were glad we saw the aftermath and were more cautious when there.
We rented a Jeep most the week and also drove the a beach were the turtles come up and nap in the afternoon. I think I had seen 1 turtle from a distance in the past. This trip brought lost of firsts.
We did a snorkel tour to Molokini Island which is suppose to be incredible. My ears were plugged for most the week and I had a hard time hearing (they still are). We depended if we should go and we woke up to clouds and some rain. We still headed over and said we would decide when there. still leaned towards it, said if we didn’t want to get in water ( because it was choppy) it would turn into a whale watching tour ;). February is a amazing month to see whales in Hawaii... again something I hqve RARELY seen .. saw a bunch and even a mom and baby swam under our raft on this tour. When we got out there it was cold and choppy. Everyone was looking around wondering who was going to get in. Tour guide said it would be better in the water and the visibility here is amazing... I decided i was going in and it was beautiful.
Saw a reef shark and told a stranger to “shut the hell up” when he told me there was a shark down there... hahah. He was sweet and said it wouldn’t do anything and said he would swim down to show me. Week!
We went to the back of the crater after to a 400ft drop... not my kind of snorkel and I told Pete I was going back to the boat.. most the group seemed to feel the same way and followed. We then headed to a “turtle” spot and for real swan with like 10 turtles all RIGHT Near US... so amazing!!
We did the road to haha with friends.. long pretty drive (drove the entire island)
black a sand beach was gorgeous and definitely the highlight to us on that.
Our hotel beach was suppose to have some of the best snorkeling on the island.. we planned to do that the last day but got a big storm and wound up in the room most the day. We did walk down and shop prior to the rain and waiting to long... we had to run to the hotel in a downpour.
We put Leis in the ocean in memory of Papa and Uncle D (who’s funeral services we unfortunately missed the day period while we were away).
We had fun dancing and hanging out with friends at the welcoming and farewell parties.
also some relaxing on the beach.
This trip flew by .... but the travel home stunk... our plane had some air pressure issue and got delayed for testing..... 9 hrs delayed. I’m currently in the airport. Once we are done traveling it will have taken 21 hours from the time we left the hotel till we got home. We are ready to be home and will have to wait to our babies get home from school :(. Planning to sleep and recoop from the traveling.
So long Maui... we had fun!
